NAMAKKAL: The Namakkal district administration has initiated a massive exercise of digitising the field measurement sketches of the survey department as a part of the e-governance programme. The objective of the exercise is to ensure speedy issue of land records to the people in the district. Currently, the field measurements sketches are being prepared manually, which consumes a lot of time and requires more manpower. The digitisation will ensure immediate issue of the land records such as ’chitta’ and `adangal’. Surveyors and draughtsmen numbering over 20 had already been given training on the digitisation process through the National Informatics Centre in Namakkal. Over one lakh field measurement sketches in the district would be digitised during the exercise. After launching the exercise at a function held here on Monday, Collector U. Sagayam said that it would be completed within a year. He said that the digitisation would help the administration ensure greater transparency and accuracy in the field measurement. The service delivery to the people in the district would improve significantly. Regional Deputy Director S. Muthukumar, Additional Director, Department of Land and Survey Records, Radhakrishnan, District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj and senior officials were present in the function.
