Chiranjeevi sparkles

VIJAYAWADA: G. Chiranjeevi’s 76 (7x4, 2x6) enabled ACA Secretary’s XI post 205 for seven in 93 overs at the end of the first day’s play in the three-day ACA u-19 selection match against ACA President’s XI at IGMC Stadium here on Thursday.

The scores: ACA Secretary’s XI 205 for seven in 93 overs (G. Chiranjeevi 76, Shoaib Md. Khan 45) vs. ACA President’s XI.

Matches drawn

Both Kadapa v Chittoor and Anantapur v Kurnool matches in the ACA South Zone u-22 inter-district tournament ended in a draw at Anantapur on Thursday.

The scores: Kadapa 68 and 180 for seven in 52.1 overs (Ghayaz 77) drew with Chittoor 138 in 63 overs (Jagadish five for 35, Vishnupreetam Reddy three for 32).

Kurnool 214 in 73.3 overs (Moshin Basha 86, Siva Charan 49, Irfan four for 65, Krishna Kumar Reddy four for 41) drew with Anantapur 99 in 26.3 overs (Jaswanth five for 44, Satya four for 55) and 99 for five in 46 overs.

Wash out

The first day’s play between ACA Secretary’s XI and ACA President’s XI in the selection match for ACA Central u-22 team at Guntur was washed out due to heavy overnight rain.

Krishna contingent

The following athletes will represent Krishna District in the three-day AP State junior athletic meet for boys and girls (u-14, u-16, u-18 and u-20) to be held here at IGMC Stadium from July 27 to 29.

U-16 cricket tournament

The ACA North Zone inter-District under-16 cricket tournament will be held at Vizianagaram from July 27 to August 3 and the players selected for the Visakhapatnam team to take part in the tournament have to report at the VDCA office, GVMC stadium in Visakhapatnam at 5 p.m. on July 26 along with original date of birth certificate, according to a press release from joint secretary of VDCA A.P. Naidu.
