PUDUCHERRY: The Non-Teaching Staff Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) on Thursday protested in front of the college to demand the removal of principal in-charge T.G. Palanivelu. Students, staff and the public were not allowed to enter the college during the protest. The committee said the vacancies in the college should be filled by promoting eligible employees. At present, there were 152 vacancies. Group C and D employees should be given a salary of Rs. 3,050 and Rs. 4,000 respectively, they said. Later, the committee held a discussion where it decided that the principal should be removed. The committee planned a strike on July 28 if no action was taken until then to change the principal, a release said.
