Staff Reporter

Bharatanatyam dancer Komala Varadan.

NEW DELHI: Kalaikoodam, the Delhi-based centre for promotion of art and culture founded and run by seasoned artiste Komala Varadan, is celebrating its silver jubilee year beginning this July.

The year-long celebrations will be inaugurated this coming Monday, July 28, by the veteran woman of letters, Kapila Vatsyayan, at India Habitat Centre here in the Capital.

Komala Varadan will be presenting some items specially choreographed for the occasion.

On August 1, 2 and 3, there will be a “National Seminar on Arts and Culture for Indian Integration”. These inaugural events will be followed by short festivals of cultural programmes every month.

Kalaikoodam was set up in 1983 with Dr. L.M. Singhvi as its first Chairman. During the 25 years of its existence it has done pioneering work to project the country’s integrated culture.
