Patna: The Bihar Government has warned the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the Central government undertaking IRCON engaged in construction of State highways of stern action against them, if they do speed up the pace of execution of projects awarded to them. “The officers of CPWD and IRCON have been asked to improve their performance or else the State government would take stern action against them. I have directed my department to keep a vigilant eye on the two central agencies,” Bihar Road Construction Minister Prem Kumar told PTI. While CPWD has been assigned the task of two-laning 1705 km of State highways at an estimated expenditure of Rs 2385.9 crore, IRCON has been awarded contracts for 330 KM involving Rs 591.1 crore. PTI
