BELLARY: B. Ramakrishna and S. Kishanlal Soni were installed as president and secretary, respectively, of the Cantonment Rotary Club, here, for the year 2008-09 on Wednesday.

P. Seshanjaneyalu, District Governor of Rotary International 3160, installed the new office-bearers.

Mr. Ramakrishna, while underscoring the need to extend a helping hand to the needy, said that was planning to set up a trust to take care of the girl child in rural areas. Creating awareness about HIV/AIDS in rural areas through rallies and campaigns, and providing drinking water in villages by utilising the grants given by Rotary International are among the works to be taken up by Mr. Ramakrishna. Henry D’Souza, Bellary Bishop, who was the chief guest, lauded the efforts of the organisation in rendering community service. G.
