BHUBANESWAR: Responding to the demands of agitating teachers of unaided colleges, the State government on Thursday declared that block grant would be given to 662 Plus Two and Plus Three colleges. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has issued instructions in this regard as per the recommendation of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, according to an official release. AgitationThe government came out with the announcement as hundreds of teachers continued their dharna along the Mahatma Gandhi Marg for over 60 days. The teachers had been agitating under the banner of All Orissa Unaided College Employees Coordination Committee. Decision hailedMeanwhile, covenor of the organisation Golak Nayak welcomed the decision and said the agitation has been called off. The government decision would benefit more than 7,500 teaching and non-teaching staff of the unaided colleges.
