State to recruit 2,000 special police force

More number of training centres will be opened to train the new recruits


BHUBANESWAR: The State government on Thursday decided to appoint 2,000 special police personnel from the naxal affected districts to fight the Maoists.

If necessary, recruitment standards will be relaxed for appointing the special police personnel, the government said. A decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The meeting was convened to discuss about measures required to combat naxal menace. The meeting further decided that 1,500 retired defence personnel would also be appointed in the various posts that were lying vacant.

Besides, it was decided that more than 5,000 Constables and other staff would be appointed by way of conducting special recruitment drives. More number of training centres would be opened to train the new recruits.The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy, Director General of Police Gopal Chandra Nanda and others officials.
