Production warrants against alleged gangster
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A court here on Thursday issued fresh production warrants against alleged gangster Brijesh Singh, who is currently lodged in Mumbai’s high-security Arthur Road Jail in connection with a shooting case that took place at J.J. Hospital in Mumbai. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Jain issued the warrants asking the Arthur Road Jail authorities to produce Brijesh Singh in the court on August 14. The court action came after the Mumbai police failed to produce him on Thursday in response to an earlier warrant.
Brijesh Singh, who was arrested in Bhubaneswar this past January by the Special Cell of the Delhi police, had been on the run for two years. The alleged gangster is wanted in an extortion case registered in Delhi in 2001.
Underworld connection
According to the police, Brijesh Singh also allegedly had links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
