Special scheme for teachers of aided schools

Staff Reporter

Career progression scheme effective from August 9,1999

Same benefit already sanctioned for govt. school teachers

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet has given its nod for implementation of an assured career progression scheme for teachers of aided schools in the Capital. Announcing this after a meeting of the Cabinet chaired by her, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the scheme would be implemented with effect from August 9, 1999, for teachers of aided schools under the Directorate of Education. The same benefit has already been sanctioned to teachers working in government schools.

The Chief Minister said the Cabinet had also given its nod to a proposal for issuance of certain directions for securing compliance of labour laws while outsourcing certain services in the Government and the bodies under the control of the Government. She said various departments had been procuring services like sanitation, security, catering, paramedics, data entry and vehicles and it had been noticed that due to certain deficiencies in the selection process of the bidding service provider the Government had been suffering.

Ms. Dikshit said it was found that either the quality of service that was available was sub-standard or the manpower engaged by the service provider was not receiving the minimum social security in terms of wages, leave and provident fund and bonus. Therefore, she expressed confidence that with the implementation of the now approved directions, compliance of the labour laws would be ensured.
