Woman killed, husband missing crime notes

BANGALORE: A cook allegedly murdered his 40-year-old wife after a domestic clash at Garvebhavipalya in Madiwala police station limits on Thursday.

The police said Raja and his wife Perumai were staying in a room at Garvebhavipalya. They earned their living by selling “chakkali” and other fried items. An alcoholic, Raja was a source of tension between the couple.

On Wednesday evening he turned up inebriated and fought with his wife.

His friend Ramaswamy, who helps Raja in his business, intervened to calm him down and returned home. When Ramaswamy came again to look up the couple in the morning, he found Perumai lying on the floor in a pool of blood and Raja missing. He called the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Soumendu Mukherjee said Perumai had been hit on her head by a blunt object. A police team has been sent to look for Raja in his village in Madurai district.

A 55-year-old tipsy carpenter was allegedly stabbed by a person facing criminal charges in Markandeya Layout in Chamarajapet police station limits on Wednesday night.

According to police, Krishnappa had returned home in an inebriated condition when his daughter asked him for snacks from a nearby bakery. Krishnappa bought snacks and was returning home in a wayward manner when he fell on Sadiq, who is facing charges of murder, dacoity and burglary. Sadiq allegedly took out his knife and stabbed him, and Krishnappa died on the spot.

The K.G. Halli police have arrested six persons allegedly involved in the kidnap of realtor Vijayakumar and robbed him of his cellphone and gold chain early this month. The police caught the accused when they were allegedly plotting a dacoity.

The police identified the accused as Ravi, Prasad, Manjunath, Vijayakumar, Yogesh and Mahesh. The police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in selling pirated DVDs. The police have recovered 2,600 pirated DVDs when the accused were transporting them near K.R. Market. The police gave the names of the accused as Syed Ghouse (58) of Hale Guddadahalli and N. Kumar (21) of Chamarajpet.
