Over 2,000 litres of adulterated milk seized
Staff Reporter
Chennai: The Chennai Corporation’s health officials on Thursday conducted surprise checks on the quality of milk being sold at various outlets across the city. About 2,400 litres of adulterated milk were seized and destroyed.
A release here said that spot tests were conducted using lactometers, which are instruments to test the richness of milk. Also, 40 samples were drawn for advanced testing at the Corporation’s laboratory. If the samples are found to be adulterated, action would be taken against the sellers, the release warned. The surprise checks were conducted at several places, including Flower Bazaar, Koyambedu, Sowcarpet, Moolakadai, Triplicane, T. Nagar and Taramani.
