Dates for medical/dental admissions announced

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Candidates who received allotment on July 17 to the medical/dental courses in government colleges and to the 50 per cent government seats in the self-financing medical/dental colleges controlled by the government (in Kochi and Kannur) and who have remitted the stipulated fee should ensure admission in the respective colleges between July 26 and 29.

A press note issued here by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) said the date for submitting fee and ensuring admission for those who have received allotments to the 35 per cent management seats in government-controlled self-financing medical/dental colleges (Cooperative Medical College Kochi, Academy of Medical Sciences, Pariyaram, and the Pariyaram Dental College) would be notified later.

Also, the date for admission for those who have received allotments from the CEE to the 50 per cent government seats in private self-financing medical/dental colleges would be notified later, the press note added.

These announcements by the CEE come in the wake of an order passed by a single judge of the High Court in a case praying for the quashing of the seat-fee pact inked between the government and self-financing medical colleges.

In his order, the judge had directed that those who receive allotment to the 35 per cent management quota in self-financing medical colleges who were party to the pact, need pay as fee only the amount fixed by the Fee Regulatory Committee headed by P. A. Mohammed.
