University to revise fellowships

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Syndicate of University of Kerala, at its meeting on Thursday, decided to revise the rates of the CSIR fellowships to recognised research scholars.

It was also decided to grant one more batch for the computer science course at the LBS Institute for Women.

A committee will study the reasons behind the low pass percentage for the B.Com examinations. Syndicate members A. A. Rasheed, B. S. Rajeev, M. P. Russel and P. Mohammed Kunju will be its members. The meeting authorised the Syndicate committee on examinations to probe complaints over the conduct of the MDS examinations and the mass failure of candidates in the BAMS practical examinations.

A separate examination would be held at the Government Nursing College, Thiruvananthapuram, for students of the Mary Matha College of Nursing.

The meeting also discussed aspects of the ongoing case in the Lok Ayukta relating to the controversies over the conduct of the University Assistant examinations in 2005. Many Syndicate members criticised the actions of Pro-Vice-Chancellor V. Jayaprakash in this matter.
