dated July 26, 1958: Plans for Zeta II

British scientists are working on an improved form of “Zeta”, the atom fusion machine designed to “harness the H-Bomb”, which is expected to be in operation early next year, Sir Edwin Plowden, Chairman of the U.K. Atomic Energy Authority, said during a press conference in London on July 24. Sir Edwin also mentioned the number of "very good men" coming to Britain under the Commonwealth Fellowship Scheme to work on nuclear studies.
