Mutrazpalli waits for Rahul Gandhi

Sangareddy: The beneficiaries of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) of Mutrazpalli of Gajwel mandal are eagerly waiting for the visit of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

However it all depends on the report of the ‘aam admi ke seepahi’ members of the Youth Congress that visited the village on Friday.

Several other teams are visiting NREGP works in Karimnagar, Rangareddy, Warangal and Nalgonda districts to short list the best villages under the scheme.

Playing host

If recommended, Mutrazpalli would have a chance to play host to Rahul Gandhi. In all 250 members of the Youth Congress wing drawn from different States arrived in Gajwel, Vargal, Toopran, Narsapur, Chegunta mandals to study the Upadhi Hami Pathakam in 25 villages.

The teams visited the villages and interacted with the beneficiaries.

They inquired how the work load is calculated and how the payments are being made. Pitla Ramulu of Mutrazpalli told the visitors that the four adults in the family were able to earn Rs. 12,000 per month. Mallesham Madagari, and Yadamma answered the queries of the team members.

Works explained

The team then attended the Grama Sabha in the village where the villagers explained how the works are generally identified and the job cards are issued.

The representatives expressed keen interest in the implementation of the programme in their respective States. The team members would be staying over night in the allotted villages and house holds and continue their study of the programme on Saturday. They would be spending their time studying the data available at the respective mandal-level project director’s offices on Saturday.

The teams would then participate in the social audit programme by the end of their two-day trip before leaving for Hyderabad.
