KALPETTA: The office-cum-residence of the assistant general manager of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) here was ransacked, allegedly by activists of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), on Friday morning. The assailants set on fire the files in the office and damaged the computer and furniture. T.S. Gopi, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kalpetta, said a four-member group of CPI(ML ) activists broke into the house of V. Marshal at 6 a.m. on Friday and threatened him and his wife with weapons. They opened the office, took out the files and burnt them. A few pamphlets that were found strewn around the house said the Reserve Bank of India and NABARD personnel had misinterpreted the orders issued by the Union government on the loan waiver scheme and warned that the agitation by the CPI(ML) would continue . The police registered a case. L. Surendran, Circle Inspector, Kalpetta, was investigating the case.
