HYDERABAD: Admission into minority engineering and pharmacy colleges, conducted by the Consortium of A.P. Minority Educational Institutions (SW-II) will be held from July 27 to August 12 at four centres in the State.

Zafar Zaveed, general secretary of the consortium told a press conference that 16,000-odd seats were available for all the Muslim, Christian and Sikh minority students in 75 engineering and pharmacy colleges and some are likely to be added before the counselling. Counselling would be online and held simultaneously at four centres -- Veterinary Officers Association Building, Shantinagar, near Masab Tank, Nimra College of Engineering (Vijayawada), AQJ College of Engineering and Technology (Vishakapatnam) and Madeena College of Engineering (Kadapa).

Mr. Zaveed said 17,400 Muslim candidates qualified in the EAMCET while 8,500 seats were available in the SW-II while 7,000 seats were available in the Christian institutions as against 2,500 odd qualified candidates. In the Sikh community 200 students cleared the test while 500 seats were available. Seats not filled in the respective categories would be offered to the candidates from the same community based on their Intermediate marks. Seats then left over would be offered under open pool where students from all categories can apply.

He said seats under the fee waiver scheme would also be offered in the counselling. Mr. Zaveed said sliding from Single Window-I (Government’s Convenor) will be allowed but students need to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Convenor. Mohd. Jaffer, chairman, Nizam Educational Institutions and Mohd Ghouse of Azad group of institutions were also present.
