APPEAL: Social Reforms Department Secretary Christodas Gandhi speaking at Bharath College in Thanjavur on Friday THANJAVUR: “Integration is not just about getting together but understanding each other,” said Social Reforms Department Secretary Christodas Gandhi here on Friday. Speaking at the inauguration of a national integration camp of National Service Scheme at Bharath College of Science and Management, Mr. Gandhi said that the seven days’ NSS camp would provide the opportunity for 150 students from various parts of the country to understand each other. “Appreciate the variety of languages, culture and find unity in diversity. Diversity is not a contradiction. Human body is an example of harmonious functioning of various organs which are different in form and nature The camp will give an opportunity for you to experience harmony in a pragmatic and beautiful manner. “ “While one has to express his culture, he or she should not flaunt it. Service to humanity is important, but one should not be servile,” he said. Students from various states came in their traditional dresses to the camp. The camp includes group discussion, cultural programmes in the evening, service like forming roadside parks. The participants are also visiting the Velankanni shrine and Nagore Dargah on July 27.
