NEW DELHI: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said his party would consider having an electoral alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) only if the latter withdrew its letter to the Pranab Mukherjee sub-committee opposing the creation of separate Telangana. The committee consisting of senior Ministers, appointed by the UPA government, was asked to go into the demands for separate Telangana and give its report. When the committee sought the views of different parties, the TDP opposed the division of the State and said it was for an integrated Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Rao, who referred to this during a press conference here on Friday, wanted the TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu to announce his stand on the Telangana issue. Similarly, the TDP should amend the resolutions passed in its Mahanadus (conferences) opposing the bifurcation of the State. If the TDP fulfils these conditions then the TRS would consider having an electoral understanding with that party after discussing the issue. The party could not go on board with other parties unless their stand on Telangana was known. However, the party was not averse to working with the recently launched new front consisting of 10 parties, in which TDP too is a member, based on issues concerning the people, Mr Rao said. Stand on NarendraOn TRS rebel MP Ale Narendra, who voted in favour of the confidence motion violating the party whip Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said a complaint had been lodged with Speaker Somnath Chatterjee seeking Mr. Narendra’s disqualification. The party would organise rallies and dharnas in district headquarters on Monday against the State and Central governments highlighting the frequent power shutdowns, shortage of fertilizer, diesel and other problems faced by farmers.
