Call for token strike

Thiruvananthapuram: The joint action council of trade unions of the plantation sector has called for a token strike in rubber, coffee, cardamom and tea plantations on August 13. P.K. Gopalan, chairman, and Lalaji Babu, convener, of the action council said here on Friday that the strike was to protest against the “negative attitude” of plantation owners at the meeting held in the presence of Labour Minister P.K.Gurudasan to revise plantation workers’ wages. —Special Correspondent
