TIRUCHI: Schools in the district will have regular interaction with the Anna Science Centre – Planetarium to infuse interest into the process of learning and understanding of science and technology. Chief Educational Officer K. Swaminathan has encouraged schools to make full use of the facilities available at the centre by way of facilitating periodic visits by teachers and students, particularly members of science clubs. The centre, designed as a place to discover the wonders of scence and technology, features planetarium show, galleries (environment gallery, activities gallery, and dinosaur in action), science park, weight on planets, and terrestrial view through telescope. At a meeting of headmasters organised by it here on Friday, Mr. Swaminathan observed that it would make the task of schools easier. While scientific temper was being developed through the government’s emphasis on conduct of science exhibition at the levels of school, educational district and revenue district, the centre would increase the opportunities for students to innovate, he said, adding that a similar meeting will be organised for a second batch of headmasters to create awareness on the resources available at the centre for learning by doing. According to T.M. Alagiri Swamy Raju, the centre’s Project Director (in-charge), at the invitation of schools, the centre was keen to organise science demonstration lectures.
