Actress denied bail in murder case

Mumbai: The Sessions court on Friday rejected the bail application of Kannada actress Marrayya Monica Susayraj in Neeraj Grover murder case.

Susayraj and her naval officer fiance Jerome Mathew are charged with the murder of Grover, creative head of Synergy Adlabs.

Additional Sessions Judge S. T. Mahajan denied bail after prosecution argued that there was enough evidence to link Susayraj to the murder.

Prosecutor Ramnath Kini argued that Susayraj had kept mum about the murder until her arrest. Grover was assumed to be missing until Susayraj led police to where his body was burnt.

“We have not just circumstantial evidence against Susayraj but ample forensic proof as well,” he said.

Mr. Kini narrated the entire incident and submitted how Jerome flew in from Kochi and stabbed Grover to death. He said that the couple then cut the body into pieces and burnt it at Manor in Thane. Considering her conduct after the murder and her confession, the bail should be rejected, he argued.

He further argued that the charge sheet was yet to be filed. At this stage, accused could tamper with the evidence, hence bail should not be granted, he said.

Susayraj had asked for bail saying that she had nothing to do with Grover’s murder. She argued that at most she could be charged with destruction of evidence which was a bailable offence. PTI
