Patna: The overall flood situation on Friday aggravated in Bihar with swirling waters inundating regions in Muzaffarpur, Saharsa and Supaul as all the major rivers were flowing above the danger marks at different places along their course. Official sources said around 2.12 lakh people continued to reel under the impact of floods in five districts. The deluge damaged around 585 houses, the value of which was estimated to be around Rs 36.50 lakh, so far, State Disaster Management sources said. The quantum of damages caused to the standing crops and public properties were yet to be made available as officials were carrying out the survey work in the flood-hit areas, they said. Over 200 boats were engaged to evacuate the affected people from the marooned areas, the sources said. An official report from Central Water Commission said while the Punpun was flowing 115 cm above the red mark at Sripalpur, the Burhi Gandak continued to flow 10 cm, 51 cm and 08 cm above danger point at Lalbaghiya ghat (motihari), Rosera and Khagaria, respectvely. Water level of the Kamala Balan crossed the danger mark by 61 cm at Jhanjharpur. Similarly, the Kosi was flowing 49 cm and 40 cm above the danger mark at Basua and Kursela and the Mahananda was flowing 39 cm and 18 cm above the danger mark at Tengraghat the report said. PTI
