Sudha Ravi was accompanying her husband to a hospital when she was killed Bangalore: When Sirigenahalli resident Sudha Ravi left her home in the morning on Friday to accompany her ailing husband to St John’s Hospital, nobody could have imagined the tragedy that would befall her. Ms. Ravi, in her 40s, was killed on the spot in the low-intensity serial blasts that shook Bangalore in the afternoon. Ms. Ravi was at the Madivala bus stop with her husband Ravi alias Mallesh when the explosion occurred. Mr. Ravi, an employee of a paint factory in Hulimavu, was admitted to National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences with shrapnel injuries. An employee of Lisa Apparels in Hulimavu, Ms. Ravi had applied for a day’s leave to take her husband to the doctor after he complained of chest pain. “Both Sudha and Ravi left home around 11 a.m. We do not know whether they met the doctor or not,” Venkatesh, a relative, told The Hindu. Till late in the evening, Ms. Ravi’s body remained unclaimed. Though doctors at the Victoria Hospital, who found an identity tag on her person with two phone numbers on it, informed her relatives, none had come to claim the body. “Sudha has no children but her sister Manjula and her family stay near her house at Sirigenahalli in Gottigere on Bannerghatta Road. Her husband is in a hospital, badly injured. Manjula, who also works in Lisa Apparels, has been informed,” Mr. Venkatesh said. Head of the Department of Forensic Science in Victoria Hospital Devdas said that Ms. Ravi suffered severe injuries on her head and face. “She was wearing her mangalsutra, two finger rings and anklets. We have handed over these things to the police,” he said.
