PUDUKOTTAI: Encouraged by the success of the recent maiden attempt when a large number of petitions pending with the six police stations in and around Pudukottai were resolved within a few hours, the police administration has decided to extend the benefit to all the sub-divisions in the district. Called ‘Mega mela’, the programme conducted on Sunday evoked a good response from the members of the public in need of police assistance in resolving issues. “We have extended the mela to all the sub-divisions and will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday,” says Superintendent of Police P. Moorthi. On Saturday, the mela for all the police stations falling under the Pudukottai sub-divison will be held at A. R. Training school in Pudukottai. In Keeranur, petitioners from the police stations of Viralimalai, Iluppur, Annavasal _ all in Keeranur sub-division _ would be listened to at the V.K.S. Marriage Hall in Iluppur. On Sunday, the petitions pertaining to the stations in Keeranur, Udayalipatti, Mandaiyur and Mathur (all in Keeranur sub-division) would be heard at Devi Bala Marriage Hall in Keeranur. On Saturday, the petitions from Vadakadu, Keeramangalam and Regunathapuram (all in Alankudi sub-division) would be addressed at Government Higher Secondary School in Anavayal. The next day, the petitioners from the Sembattuviduthi police station would be listened to at Mangala Mahal Marriage Hall at Alankudi. For the Aranthangi sub-division, the mela would be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Anna Manimadapam in Aranthangi.
