Gold jewellery, cash stolen

TAMBARAM: Gold jewellery and cash were stolen from a house in Muthamizh Nagar in Pammal. Police said Arumugham (45), a Southern Railway employee, had gone to a hospital in the city where his wife was admitted. When he returned on Friday morning, he noticed the door and almirah broken open. Jewellery weighing about 15 sovereigns and Rs. 25,000 in cash were missing. The Shankar Nagar police are investigating.
Mobile phones stolen
In Pallavaram, mobile handsets worth Rs.15,000 were stolen from a shop. Pallavaram police said Immanuel, who owned a shop on Grand Southern Trunk Road, locked the shop around 10 p.m. on Thursday.
When he opened the shop on Friday morning, he noticed the handsets missing.
