BANGALORE: The ongoing loadshedding in Bangalore has been slightly restructured from Friday. While the total number of hours of load shedding for domestic consumers remains unchanged at four hours a day, the timing of load shedding has been changed. Now, the domestic consumers will face loadshedding of one hour each in the morning and evening peak duration (one hour cut between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.; one hour between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.). In between these peak hours, they will have to face a cut of two hours. The industry representatives who attended a meting with the Bescom on the scheduling of power cuts, told The Hindu that the industries and commercial establishments will face a power cut of two hours a day. But the two-hour cut will apply to only those industries which are either in industrial zones or estates. If they are located in general areas, they may have to face the normal load shedding of four hours as it is not possible to segregate the power supply for industries from that of domestic consumers in the general areas. The industrial representatives are also learnt to have proposed the system of staggering the weekly holidays for industries. This would result in a weekly load shedding for industries instead of daily load shedding. The Bescom is examining this proposal also.
