Thiruvananthapuram: The government has issued a notification declaring 24 villages in the district as disaster- prone in the wake of heavy rain. The villages include Thiruvallam, Muttathara, Pettah, Attipra, Menankulam, Kadhinamkulam, Pattom, Kadakampally, Vanchiyoor, Manacaud, Thycaud and Peroorkada in Thiruvananthapuram taluk, Karinkulam, Chengal, Kollayil, Kottukal, Neyyatinkara, Kunnathukal and Tirupuram in Neyyatinkara taluk and Peringamala, Thennoor, Aryanad, Vithura and Perumkulam in Nedumangad taluk. Asked how this would help the administration handle a crisis, District Collector Sanjay Kaul said the government would have to clarify. He said that channelising of calamity-relief funds from the Central and State governments might become easier due to this.
