Double for Rahul, Maria

ALAPPUZHA: Rahul Binu Mathew (AYTTA) and Maria Rony(AYTTA) won a double each in the Alappuzha YMCA all-Kerala ranking table tennis tournament here on Saturday.

Rahul Binu Mathew toppled second seed S. Sundar (AYTTA) 11-6, 8-11, 13-15, 11-9, 9-11, 13-11, 11-7 to win the junior boys title. He won the sub-junior title defeating his brother Rohit Binu Mathew 11-9, 11-7, 11-7.

Maria defeated Seraha Jacob (AYTTA) 11-7, 11-6, 13-11 in the sub-junior girls final. She again defeated Seraha Jacob to win the cadet girls title.

The results: Boys: Juniors (final): Rahul Binu Mathew (AYTTA) bt S. Sundar (AYTTA) 11-6, 8-11, 13-15, 11-9, 9-11, 13-11, 11-7; semifinals: Rahul Binu bt Vishnu Narayanan (AYTTA) 7-11, 10-12, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5, 14-12; S. Sundar bt Sarath V. Joy (AYTTA) 11-4, 10-12, 11-8, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6.

Sub-juniors (final): Rahul Binu bt Rohit Binu Mathew (AYTTA) 11-9, 11-7, 11-7; Semifinals: Rahul Binu bt Renjith Benny (Tvm) 11-4, 11-9, 11-5; Rohit Binu bt Thomas Cherian (AYTTA) 13-11, 12-10, 11-5.
