CHANDIGARH: A special CBI court in Ambala on Saturday directed formal framing of charges against Dera Sacha Sauda sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on August 23 in connection with the case relating to alleged rape of a female disciple. Special Judge A. K. Verma also directed that the Baba be present in the court to hear the framing of charges. The Baba, who is the sole accused in the rape case, was not present in the court on Saturday because of ill-health. The charges will be framed under Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (uttering a word or making a gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. The Dera chief is also facing trial in two murder cases.
