Kozhikode: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Kerala chapter will organise a series of meetings to protest against the proposed Indo-U.S. nuclear agreement as “it is detrimental to national interests.” The meetings would be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Manjeri and Kannur. Regional-level conventions would also be organised to mobilise support against the nuclear agreement, Arifali, amir of Kerala chapter of the organisation, said on Saturday. “Congress which is heading the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre had provided a model government for secular governance and with the support of Left parties had kept communal forces away from power. However, it had deep disappointment to all lovers of democracy by taking the initiative for Indo-US nuclear deal. It should be resisted at all costs,” the amir said.
