BELLARY: M.P. Prakash, former Home Minister and Congress leader, has expressed concern over the “era of purchasing” that has ushered in the political system. He was addressing presspersons here on Friday. Referring to some legislators from the Opposition parties in the State tendering resignation and joining the BJP, he said that a new precedent had been set by the BJP. This was a dangerous trend and it had to be debated at various levels. With regard to the three Ministers, two of them facing CBI inquiries and one accused of power theft, Mr. Prakash said that it indicated the fall in moral values. The Ministers themselves should resign owning moral responsibility, especially after Energy Minister K.S. Eshwarappa had announced in the House that nobody would be spared if found guilty of power theft. On the move to make him the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Prakash said that he was aware of it and he had informed the party leadership that he was ready to shoulder any responsibility given to him.
