MANGALORE: The Directorate of National Cadet Corps (NCC) has reduced the training period fixed for appearing in the B and C certificate examinations of its senior division in colleges from this academic year, according to a top NCC official. Colonel G.R.R. Reddy, Group Commander, NCC, Mangalore, told The Hindu that the cadets could appear for B certificate examination, after completing the one-year training. They had to complete two-year training, as per the previous system. Cadets could appear for C certificate examination after completing the two-year training instead of three-year term fixed earlier. “This is applicable to all cadets of Army, Air Force and Navy wings,” he said. The syllabi for the training course had been revised accordingly, he added. According to Lieutenant Chandrashekar Shetty, associate NCC officer for St. Aloysius College, the reduction in the training period was aimed at attracting more students to NCC.
