Vijay’s J. Kaushik scalps six against India Pistons Chennai: Indian Bank off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan captured six Grand Slam first-innings wickets for 20 runs, to force the side into following-on, on the final day of the TNCA first division cricket league fourth round match at SRMC-Turf, on Saturday. Grand Slam ended the day with its second innings score at 221 for eight. Malolan picked four wickets to return match figures of 10 wickets for 82 runs. K.B. Arun Karthik’s half-century in Grand Slam’s second innings took his tally to 530 runs in six innings. Vijay’s J. Kaushik’s six wickets for 47 runs helped restrict India Pistons to 171 on the final day of the rain-affected encounter at CPT-IP. The mediumpacer wasted little time in dismissing the tail, picking three wickets in 16 balls, conceding two runs. It was the season’s first five-wicket haul for Kaushik, who now has 17 wickets in four matches so far. Vijay made 175 for five to gain the first-innings lead and top the points table with 23 points after four rounds. IP off-spinner M. Prabhu’s four wickets took his season tally to 18 in four matches. Five-wicket haulAt Pachaiyappa’s ‘A’, a five-wicket haul by off-spinner Y. Venugopala Rao helped Globe Trotters gain a 101-run first innings lead, and five points from the drawn encounter with UFCC-T. Nagar. UFCC’s B. Vijay Rahul and S. Sharath were involved in a 130-run stand for the sixth wicket, which wasn’t enough to better Globe Trotters’ score. Set a target of 210, Southern Railway Institute was at 82 for three when the match against Young Stars at RKM-Vivekananda was called off before the commencement of the mandatory overs. An unbeaten 59 by captain K. Srinivasan helped Young Stars declare at 181 for the loss of five wickets. Unbeaten centuryParry’s, enabled by S. Ramkumar’s unbeaten century, declared at 237 for four, to gain five points from the match against Jolly Rovers. Aruna, after achieving the first-innings lead against Alwarpet on Friday, was all-out for 225 on the final day at IIT-Chemplast. Left-arm spinner R. Raghuram registered a five-wicket haul for Alwarpet. The match was called off with Alwarpet’s second-innings score at 144 for five.
