Rohit bowls well

HYDERABAD: Fine bowling by left-arm spinner M. Rohit (six for 56) helped Visaka score a four-wicket win over Zinda Tilismath in an ‘A’-division (two-day) league cricket championship match here on Saturday.

The scores: ‘A’-division (two-day) league: CCOB 288 (Md. Khalid 125, Murtuza 53, Salam Bayash 50, Abhishek Naidu four for 12) bt Osmania 259 (G. Karthik 79, Abhishek Naidu 67, M. A. Shakeel seven for 80); Kings Xl 375 (Ameen 71, Sandeep Goud 51, Sharath 42, Ashrith 98, Mahesh 42, G. Varun seven for 130) drew with MCC; Syndicate Bank 534 bt Raju CC 81 (M.A. Javeed four for 28); Jai Bhagawati 226 (Mohinder 43, B. Ashutosh Kumar four for 50) bt Nizam College 139 (B. Ashutosh Kumar 53 n.o., S. Rajender five for 29); Zinda 196 (M. Rohit six for 56) lost to Visaka 200 for six (Rizwanullah 73, R. Samuel 51).

Inter-district (two-day) league: Nizamabad 189 drew with Karimnagar 27 for two.

‘A’-division (one-day) league: Youth CC 80 (Mohd. Aleem five for six, Prasad five for 16) lost to Goud’s XI 81 for three (J. Vinay Goud 46).

‘A’-Institutions (one-day) league: Canara Bank 100 (P. Madhu five for 24) lost to FCI 101 for four (P. Madhu 42 n.o.); CCMB 162 (Nagabhusshan 45) lost to Midhani 163 for nine (Waheed 71).

‘B’-division (one-day) league: Lal Bahadur 87 (Nani 40, Prakshuram Goud five for 15) lost to Superstars 91 for three.

‘C’-division (one-day) league: Xl Masters 113 (Purna six for 24) lost to Chums XI 114 for two; Sunshine 171 (P. Sai Charan 59, Rajath Ali four for 44) bt Starlets 144 (Phalguna five for 35).

St. Joseph’s advances

St. Joseph’s High School (King Koti) entered the quarterfinals of the sixth Dr. Emily Emanuel inter-School basketball tournament, defeating Don Bosco School 16-4 in the final round-robin league match here. For the winner, Ravi Shankar was the top-scorer with 14 points.

The scores: DRS International School bt St. Joseph’s Marredpally 18-9; Niraj School bt Martinet HS 13-10; Gitanjali HS 31 (Karthik 10) bt Auxilium 10.

Sunfeast football

Sunfeast and SPT Sports will organise the third Sunfeast inter-school football tournament at the Trimulgherry Village grounds here from July 28 to 31, Jasper David, General Manager, SPT Sports, said.

The event is being held for boys in the age groups of under-14 and 16.
