Kurnool lifts trophy

Vijayawada: Kurnool lifted the Gokaraju Ranga Raju Memorial Trophy by winning the ACA South Zone u-22 inter-district tournament that concluded at Anantapur on Saturday.

The scores: Kadapa 152 and 44 for two in 16.3 overs drew with Kurnool 198 for eight decl in 90 overs (Siva Charan Singh 71, Vikram Surya Teja 53, Jagadish three for 38).

Nellore 194 and 174 for seven in 41.1 overs (Prajith 43, Praveen four for 48) drew with Chittoor 189 in 63.3 overs (Prasad Babu 54, Venkataramana six for 29).

Washed out

The final day’s play between ACA President’s XI and ACA Secretary’s XI in the selection match for ACA Central Zone u-22 team was washed out due to incessant rain at Guntur.

Siva Kumar to lead

Vizag’s D. Siva Kumar will lead the Andhra u-19 one-day team for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy South Zone tournament to be played at Vizag from October 20 to October 26.

Joint winners

ACA Secretary’s XI and ACA President’s XI were declared joint winners in the ACA u-19 selection match as the final day’s play was abandoned due to rain here. Municipal Commissioner P.S. Pradyumna gave away the P. Narasimha Raju Trophy (for three–day) and L.N. Narayana Row Trophy (for selection match) to both the skippers.

State athletic meet

Over 1,000 athletes from all over the State will take part in the three-day AP junior State athletic meet for u-14, 16, 18 and u-20 age groups from Sunday at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium.

The AP contingent to participate in the South India athletic meet to be held at Coimbatore from August 8 to 10 will be picked on the concluding day.
