THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second international youth festival organised by the World Malayalee Council (WMC) will begin on August 15, at Marangattupilly, Kottayam. The two day festival aims to act as a meeting point for the younger generation of Malayalis around the globe. The youth festival will also provide an opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the State with tours being arranged to Munnar, Wagamon and Kumarakom. Youth from the U.S., Europe, Africa, Australia, Singapore and the Gulf will take part in the festival. The events for the competition include extempore speech, light music, recitation, classical music, mono act, mimicry, Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom, folk dance, group dance, oppana, margamkali, thiruvathirakali, cinematic dance and painting. Events will be held separately for boys and girls. One candidate can participate in five individual and two group items. The ‘Kalaprathibha’ and ‘Kalathilakam’ will get the chance to participate in the international convention of WMC to be conducted in Singapore.
