Bangalore: Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore, in collaboration with German films and Suchitra Film Society, will organise “German Film Week” at Lavanya cinema on St. Johns Road here from August 8 to 14. Evelin Hust, director of the festival and the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, said: “The Insitut has established a tradition of bringing first rate German films in all genres to Bangalore. This year’s palette of award-winning films is an exciting blend of thought provoking themes and pure entertainment, with something appropriate for every age group. “This festival has been specially designed for the Bengaluru audience.” The festival opens with an award-winning film “Requiem”, a haunting story about the impact of religion on youngsters. The screening includes two award-winning films by director Fatih Akin — The Edge of Heaven and Head on — gives an insight into the German Turkish immigrant cinema. The hit films include “Four Minutes”, “A Friend of Mine”, “Ghosts and Warchild”, “Covering Love”.
