Chitradurga: The Forum for Nationalisation of Mining will submit findings of its study and its recommendations to the Government soon. It has demanded that the State and Union Government nationalise mining activities. The team, which visited several mining areas in the district, held a public meeting here on Saturday. Writer Banjagere Jaiprakash said that the recommendations made to the Government would include asking it to ensure that mining activities are conducted only in licensed land and to take action against those who are extracting ore from unauthorised land. Mr. Jaiprakash said that instead of exporting the ore and importing iron at high prices, the Government should promote iron industries at the domestic level.
