DAVANGERE: Teachers’ Day will be celebrated in Davangere on August 5. Forty teachers will be honoured on the occasion. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Kumar Naik, Commissioner of Public Instruction, said that a seven-member panel would select 40 outstanding teachers in the State. Twenty-five teachers will be from primary schools and 15 will be from high schools. Each teacher will be given a cash award of Rs. 10,000 and a citation. Apart from this, two schools will be selected and they will be given an award and a citation. Mr. Naik said that the Department of Public Instruction would hold a seminar on August 6 on the education system and how to improve it. A souvenir on the education system would also be released on the occasion, he added. The department has appealed to Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to take part in the programme.
