Special occasion: Writer U.R. Ananthamurthy and Anand Jhanjarwad, poet, releasing the Kannada book ‘Bellaki Hindu’, a collection of poems of Subbanna Ranganatha Ekkundi, in Bangalore on Sunday. Ananthamurthy, writer, felt that an apparent contradiction in Ekkundi’s writings seemed to exist, as he held both Marx and Madhwa philosophy in high esteem. “This can be explained only when we understand that both personalities (Marx and Madhwacharya) believed that the world was real, unlike other philosophers who believed in mysticism,” he added. Anand Jhanjarwad, poet from Bagalkot, said that one of the principles of Ekkundi was to respect ideas which differed from his own philosophy. Theatre personalities like G.K .Govinda Rao and C.R. Simha were present. Indira Ekkundi, wife of Ekkundi, was felicitated.
