Standard X syllabus may be reduced

MADURAI: The State government is likely to reduce the syllabus of 10th class soon following representations from teachers and students. It is expected to happen before the quarterly examinations in September. Before that there would be a ‘careful examination’ of the syllabus by an expert committee.

“I want to get the 10th class (State Board) syllabus of all subjects examined at the earliest because there are appeals to delete the tough portions, particularly in science and mathematics subjects,” Thangam Thennarasu, Minister for School Education, told The Hindu on Sunday. He said that the committee would be constituted in a few days.
