Security committee meeting for banks held in Karur

KARUR: A meeting of the standing committee and the district level security committee meeting for banks was held with Collector T.N. Venkatesh in the chair.
Issues discussed included round-the-clock police patrolling for branches in sensitive areas, renewal of gun licenses, security audit, escort duty arrangements, filing of FIRs in respect of counterfeit currency detected, currency movement-security related aspects, hotline connectivity with nearest police station, etc.
Mr. Venkatesh urged the bankers to open no frills account for the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme beneficiaries without any delay. Under the crop insurance all the notified crops should be covered, he said.
Senior Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, Erode, S.H. Kesava, Karur DSP Aravindh, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, Namagiri, Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam, S. Ayyaru, Lead District Manager K. Chandrasekaran and others were present.
