Srinagar: Security forces shot dead two militants in a day-long operation, arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen militant and busted several hideouts seizing a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including 32 explosive sticks, in the State on Sunday, official sources said. Two unidentified militants were killed in a joint operation by the police and the Army at Gujarpati village in Surigam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the sources said. The encounter between militants and security forces broke out in the village in the morning and continued throughout the day. However, the identity and group affiliation of the deceased militants could not be ascertained immediately as the operation in the village was still continuing when last reports were received, the sources said. — PTI
