Taking no chances: Delhi Police personnel on alert near Red Fort in Delhi on Sunday. NEW DELHI: A series of meetings were held at the Delhi police headquarters here on Sunday to review the security arrangements in the Capital in the wake of the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. The police also discussed the content of an e-mail threatening to target Delhi that was sent in the earlier hours of Sunday. Investigations have revealed that the e-mail, sent using an Internet account named “ mujahedindia@yahoo.com” by Emran Jaan, had originated from a computer in Riyadh. Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal held a meeting with senior officers to discuss measures being taken on the ground. Joint Commissioners of Police attended the meeting and apprised Mr. Dadwal of the steps taken to strengthen security at public places like busy markets, places of worship, metro and railway stations. A strategy was drawn up to intensify surveillance and patrolling across the Capital. Also, the Police Commissioner was informed about the counter-terrorism measures being taken by the Special Cell. The police have already got closed-circuit television cameras installed at major market places. While the DCPs were briefed about the steps to be taken to beef up security in their areas, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh held a meeting with his subordinates to chalk out counter-terrorism measures. It is learnt that soon after the blasts in Ahmedabad, a Delhi police team was despatched there to study the blasts’ sites. The team, which is on its way back to the Capital, would informally assist the Ahmedabad police and the Central intelligence in conducting the investigations to zero in on those who carried out the explosions.
