Dawn-to-dusk JMM bandh in Jharsuguda district

Jharsuguda: In protest against JMM supremo Shibu Soren’s reported demand for inclusion of three Orissa districts to form a greater Jharkhand, BJD and BJP on Sunday observed a dawn-to-dusk bandh in Jharsuguda district.

Normal life was affected in view of the bandh as shops and business establishments downed their shutter, official sources said here.

Vehicular traffic

Though movement of trains on the busy route, which is linked to all the four metros, was not affected, vehicular traffic remained off the road for three hours between 7 am and 10 am.

Shouting slogans against the Congress-led UPA government and the JMM chief, the bandh supporters burnt effigies of prime minister, Manmohan Singh and Soren on the main road near the railway station.

However, there was no report of any incident being reported from anywhere in the district so far, they added. - PTI
