CHANGANASSERY: Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi has come down heavily on the CPI (M) on the seventh standard textbook issue. Inaugurating the protest convention organised by the Archdiocese of Changanassery, which is spread over the five central Kerala districts, here on Sunday, Mr. Ravi said communists had tired to suppress religion and belief in God for over 70 years in Russia. However, believers have come back in a big way in all the former Soviet Republics. Mr. Ravi asked the LDF government to desist from making efforts to inject atheism into young minds through text books. He praised the Christian managements for the service they have done in the filed of education. Archbishop Joseph Powathil, Archbishop Joseph Perumthottam, Kerala Congress (M) leader K.M. Mani and others spoke.
