Andhra Pradesh
There were reports in media that former Mayor Tadi Sakuntala resigned from Communist Party of Inida (CPI) on the plea that the leadership was not recognising her service to the party and people. But, she had not resigned from her corporator’s post. Had she been sincere in her endeavours, she should have resigned to the corporator’s post also. It is highly immoral on her part to continue as corporator, though she resigned from CPI. The former Mayor should set an example by submitting resignation to the corporator’s post also. K. Sri Harshita Kankipadu Introduce bus serviceMuthupalli of Nizampatnam mandal is a big village comprising three hamlets in the Guntur district. But, there is no bus facility from this village to mandal headquarters. The villagers, who have to take delivery of the cooking gas cylinders from Nizampatnam, have to go to Nagaram to take a bus to Nizampatnam. The MP and local MLAs should take initiative for introduction of bus service. B. Ramakrishna Rao Machilipatnam Conduct surveyBy no stretch of imagination can we bracket the car owners, and house owners with a plinth area of 2000 sq.ft in to less privileged class, eligible for grant of subsidy on petrol and other related goods. A survey has to be conducted all over the country with the help of RTA officials whether there was a need for subsidy on petro products for the car and two wheeler owners. There appears no rationale in supplying cooking gas on subsidy to star hotels and road side eateries. A survey on the economic condition of the head of the family has to be undertaken to identify the eligible people for subsidised cooking gas. V.V. Ramanaiah Vijayawada Biggest problemIntroduction of English medium from 6th class in all schools throughout the State from the current academic year without harming the importance Telugu is laudable. But, switching over abruptly to English medium schools would invite a number of problems. Dearth of qualified teachers to handle the subjects under CBSE syllabus is the biggest problem. Any policy in the field of education should be implemented only after considering the opinions from experts including educationists and administrators. T. L. Kanta Rao Vijayawada
