Chennai: Overnight leader Karthikeyan Murali maintained his lead and emerged a clear winner in the under-15 boys’ category in the Super Kids first State-level children’s chess tournament at the JNS Jain Vidhyalaya, Triplicane, here on Sunday. In the girls’ u-15 section, R. Aishwarya swept aside all opposition and logged the maximum six points from as many rounds. Meanwhile, Arvind Chitamabaram blitzed and waltzed away with eight points from eight rounds in the boys’ u-10 section. Also, a team of eight players from Sri Lanka contested in the tournament strongly. Overall, 300 children participated in the event which was sponsored by Chutti Vikatan, Hotel Breeze, Alpienlebe , ITC & Sunfeast biscuits. The final placings: U-15: Boys: 1. Karthikeyan Murali (7), 2. Shanaka Munasinghe (Sri Lanka, 6.5), 3. Lahiru Munasinghe (Sri Lanka, 6). Girls: 1. R. Aishwarya (6), 2. G. Rohini (5), 3. P. Dharini (4). U-12: Boys: 1. S.Yogit (7), 2. S. Lokknath (6.5), 3. M. Sidhharth (6.5). Girls: 1. P. Bala Kannamma (6), 2. Shruthi Sridhar (4.5), 3. M. Sandhya (4). U-10: Boys: 1. Arvind Chithambaram (8), 2. C. Saiviswesh (7), 3. A.L. Muthaiah (6). Girls: 1. R. Manjula (5.5), 2. C.R. Varsha (5), 3. J.G. Thegesvi (4.5). U-8: Boys: 1. A. Prarish (7 points), 2. M. Sabareesh (7), 3. P. Mythireyan (6.5). Girls: 1. K. Rakshana (6), 2. S.
